Sushi Night at Home: Rice, Ginger and a Spice Box
Share
Homemade sushi is a good Friday night project: a bit of rolling, a lot of eating. Here is a simple set-up for rolls or a lazy sushi bowl.
What You'll Need
- Indomex Sushi Rice 500g
- Nori sheets and a sushi mat
- Fillings: cucumber, avocado, cooked or smoked fish, cooked chicken, or carrot
- Pickled ginger
- Soy sauce and Japanese mayo
- Indomex Sushi Spice Box (see the product page for what is inside)
Method in a Nutshell
- Rinse the rice until the water runs clear, then cook following the pack. Let it cool to warm.
- Lay a nori sheet on the mat, shiny side down. Spread a thin layer of rice, leaving a strip at the top.
- Add fillings in a line near the bottom. Roll tightly, wet the edge to seal.
- Slice with a wet, sharp knife.
- Serve with soy, a little mayo and pickled ginger. No time to roll? Layer rice, fillings and torn nori in a bowl.
